Is your audio quality (or lack thereof) costing you jobs? Maybe! I know I lost out on a job early on because, while the client loved my voice and delivery, some other talent just edged me out from an audio technical standpoint. Grr!
Well, George Whittam, technical guru, (@vostudiotech) is now offering a great service called Virtual Engineer to help you improve the sound quality from your booth by helping you with backend processing! Just upload an audio sample of an actual script you’re auditioning for (or a script from a type of job you record regularly), along with some basic info on your studio setup, and George will send you back a processed version of your file, along with instructions on how to reproduce that same sound with an easy-to-use preset. It costs $75 for one preset, or you can get three for $150.
I just signed up today and sent off my first file, so I don’t have the results back yet, but I’ll be sure to post something when I do. I figured it’s a really great investment that just might make the difference between me booking the job vs. someone else. I’m excited and hopeful that George is going to help me step up my game!
