It snuck up on us again: April, otherwise known as tax time.
I try to be as organized as possible, diligently keeping receipts and logging mileage, conference fees, business purchases, etc. But it’s just so hard to keep track of all those little slips of paper, emails or PayPal receipts!
So now I keep track of all my business expenses on my iPhone, using a handy app that a friend turned me on to, called Biz Expense Tracker. My iPhone seems like the perfect place to do this, because I always have it with me, so no matter where I am I can generate a record of my business expenses. Biz Expense Tracker lets you create an expense log for every month, where you can keep track of all your business expenses, from postage to training fees to business meals — you name it! You can categorize each one, attach it to a particular client, and even photograph any receipts to be logged.
The one feature that it seems to be lacking which I wish they’d add on (and I’d gladly pay for!) is one that generates tax reports or breakdowns for you based on the expenses you’ve entered. (If anyone knows of an app that includes that feature, let me know!)
Hope this helps keep track of all of your business expenses for 2014…and I hope that you get a big refund this year!
