A few weeks ago I posted a blog about the creation of a new meetup group, Mid-Atlantic VO, along with information about the big kickoff event that founder and creator Val Kelly is putting together. Just this week Val added Edge Studio (@edgestudio) coach Scott Harlan (@tinascottharlan) to the speakers lineup, and she dropped the price for the day.
I know that many people were probably turned off by the steep pricetag originally, but Val has managed to drop the cost to $150 (that’s early bird pricing, until Sept. 15 — the cost will go to $197 afterwards), which seems like a pretty good deal considering there are four speakers (Scott Harlan, improv/comedy guru Jim Zarling (@jimzarling), musician Todd Carey (@toddcarey) and keynote speaker Sunday Muse (@sundaymuse), an animation VO actress).
Val has worked really hard to put together what promises to be a very informative day, and also an opportunity for those of us in the mid-Atlantic region to meet one another and come together as a community. She has also promised to open up the floor to starting a dialogue within the community so that people can talk about what they want from this Meetup group. Her hope is to hold meetups regularly throughout the year of varying sizes (not all of them will be event-based like this). It’s a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor in helping to mold and shape this group so that it meets your needs and expectations!
