Here’s an interesting concept: An online TV channel dedicated to promoting voiceover talent. This new channel, VoiceoverTV.net, has just been launched by entrepreneur Muhammad Bey.
He’s currently looking for VO talent to “reserve space” on the channel, which will air on the Open Vision Network. That is, it will air once the $40,000 needed to cover the first year’s operating costs has been met. He’s charging $15 USD to reserve a one-minute space for up to one full year, or $30 for two full minutes. And he says you can upload audio only or create a video to upload that showcases your work. And of course you can embed your contact information, website URL, etc. in that presentation as well.
Bey says he plans to promote the site to talent agents, producers and the like.
I’ve checked out the website, and there’s no indication of what happens to your money in the event he’s unable to raise the requisite $40k, but I assume that he’d refund it (and of course here’s hoping that that isn’t a necessity anyway, as I certainly wish him success in this venture!).
You can check out more information about it here, and decide whether or not it makes sense for you and your VO business plan.
