With so many people posting videos online these days, sometimes it’s hard to weed out the helpful stuff. But I recently discovered the YouTube channel for Bill DeWees (@billdewees), and I’m now a subscriber.
He’s been in the voiceover industry for about 8 years now, and as he’ll very pointedly tell you, within his first 12 months he was consistently making about $2,000 a week doing voiceovers. Now, I don’t know about you, but that sounds pretty good to me!
Watching Bill’s videos certainly demonstrates his marketing and business savvy, both of which have undoubtedly played a big role in his success (he even admits as much). But as is often the case with highly successful people in any given industry, Bill has decided to give back, offering loads of free advice and tips through his YouTube videos, which I highly recommend you watch! Hopefully it will inspire you to get motivated and move your voiceover career (or business, as we all should not lose sight of!) forward.
So now I’m off to do more marketing…my goal now is to spend a couple of hours each day devoted solely to marketing. After all, as Bill so wisely points out, we can’t expect (or just hope!) that clients will magically find us. We’ve got to let them know we’re out here, that we’re talented, devoted, and willing to work!
